Banking veteran Foster batting for UBS

TREVOR FOSTER, one of the region’s most high profile business figures, says he is joining the advisory board of UBS Wealth Management to help the bank ‘”win more than its fair share” of the private client market.

Mr Foster is joining the Swiss-based bank with special responsibility for developing its business in the West and East Midlands.

In a banking career spanning 33 years – much of them in the West Midlands – Mr Foster held senior posts in HBOS and Barclays before joining the ill-fated Icelandic bank Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander just before the credit crunch impacted the financial sector.

Mr Foster said: “UBS is a brand I’ve admired for many years – it had to be for me to be tempted back into the sector. Like all international banks, it’s had its challenges in recent years, but I’ve been impressed by its ongoing commitment to develop its regional presence.

“I want to help the team build on that. UBS globally is an incredible brand, but theres still more to be done in the Midlands where there’s a great opportunity to build the business and capture more than our fair share of the market.

“My role is to help raise the profile, promote the brand and use my contacts to build business.”

Mr Foster will continue as regional chairman of corporate insurer Lockton. He is also a business advisor to Paul Bassi’s company Bigwood chartered surveyors and auctioneers.
