New owners find cash in the attic for Barn Antiques deal

THE new owners of a long-established antiques centre near Stratford upon Avon are looking to the future after purchasing the business.
When the previous owners decided to retire and sell Barn Antiques Centre in Long Marston, Laura Scott and her husband Chris decided to take the business on.
Dudley-based law firm Hawkins Hatton advised the pair on the asset and lease purchase for an undisclosed sum.
Before completing the buy-out, Scott had worked in the business for several years and more recently as the centre manager.
“I’ve worked at Barn Antiques Centre for over seven years during which time I’ve built up a really good understanding of the business and learnt a lot from the previous owners who were great role models. It was such a perfect opportunity for us to buy such a successful business,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to building on what we have by bringing in some fresh ideas and attracting a younger customer base. We have already seen great returns by utilising the web.”
The Barn Antiques Centre has more than 50 experienced antique dealers and also has a licensed bistro and separate home interiors shop.
Colin Rodrigues, corporate partner for Hawkins Hatton, said: “It’s a fascinating business with an amazing selection of antiques to choose from.”
