First Responders in Walsall benefit from donated Subaru

ALL-WHEEL Drive manufacturer, Subaru, has donated a brand new Legacy Tourer to West Midlands FastAid, a charity providing emergency, life-saving support to members of the public.

FastAid will use the 2.0-litre diesel to get its team of medically trained Community First Responders to life-threatening callouts quicker than any ambulance crew.

The first responders can arrive on scene in less than seven minutes, helping those in cardiac arrest, people suffering chest pains or convulsions, choking victims and other situations.

The vehicle will be driven predominantly by a team of 35 Community First Responders in the Aldridge and Walsall areas.

Area Co-ordinator, Carol Waite, said: “The new Legacy has ample room to carry our extensive array of emergency medical equipment.  In the past, Community First Responders have used their own cars to get to emergencies, which not only looks less professional but can also cause problems when the scene of an accident is inaccessible or inclement weather conditions prevail.”

Marketing Director of Subaru UK, Kenyon Neads, added: “FastAid are the unsung heroes of the West Midlands, undoubtedly saving the lives of numerous people from around the area, day in, day out.  The addition of a sure-footed Legacy 2.0D will ensure they can carry out their valiant efforts whatever the weather.”

MG dealers enjoy strong opening

BRITAIN’S newest MG dealers have seen strong interest in the brand with sales of new vehicles proving encouraging. Pinkstones MG in Stoke on Trent has opened now to capitalise on the popularity of the latest MG6 and the new ’12 registration plates.

Steve Wild, sales manager at Pinkstones, said: “We had a really busy weekend. People who hadn’t seen the car before were impressed with the styling, handling and the value for money.”

Allan Hubbard, general manager at the Rivervale outlet in Brighton, reported a similar response.

The sales from both dealerships will go out in March and carry the new ’12 plate registration.

Both the award-winning MG6 GT and the MG6 Magnette sports-saloon are designed and engineered at the MG Birmingham factory in Longbridge where final assembly of the UK models also takes place.

MINI to showcase new concepts at Geneva

The John Cooper Works CountrymanMINI will be displaying six of its models and three new concepts at this year’s Geneva Motor Show – including the global debut of the John Cooper Works Countryman, left, which combines racing performance with MINI’s own ALL4 all-wheel drive system.
