Shortlists announced for Midlands Business Masters

THE shortlists for the six award categories in TheBusinessDesk.com’s inaugural Midlands Business Masters awards have been revealed.

There were close to 50 entries for the awards but our eminent judging panel has whittled it down to three contenders in each category. The winners will now be chosen by readers of TheBusinessDesk.com. (see below).

The shortlisted firms in each category are as follows:

Newcomer:  Contigo, Purity, Luxury for Less

Innovator:  Elite Pre-Cast Concrete, Contigo, Thompson Friction Welding

Pride: DCS Europe, Pertemps People Development Group, Hazel Tree Barns Initiative

Ambassador:  Denys Shortt, David Grove, Stuart Griffiths

Exporter:  Brandauer, PP Electrical Systems,Thompson Friction Welding

Manufacturer:  Michelin, Brandauer, Sertec Group Holdings

new logoThe judging panel was made up of Wade Lyn, the founder and managing director of Birmingham-based Cleone Foods, Metalrax finance director Caroline Green, Fiona Toye, chief executive of Toye, Kenning & Spencer, Birmingham Science Park Aston CEO Dr David Hardman, Richard Butler, the regional director for the CBI in the West Midlands and Doug Mahoney, UK Trade & Investment’s international trade director for the West Midlands.

The judges – who will be attending the awards ceremony at Birmingham Town Hall on the lunchtime of Thursday May 10 – were extremely impressed with the quality of entrants in all categories which they thought reflected well on the diversity of businesses based in the region.
