APC secures funding for new premises

PARCEL distribution company Alternative Parcel Company (APC), which recently obtained the green light to create a new base in Staffordshire, has secured funding from Barclays for the project to be developed by Opus Land.

Wolverhampton-based APC’s new home will be a 138,000 sq ft facility at Kingswood Lakeside in Cannock and will cost £15m – £10m of which is being supported by Barclays.

APC has enjoyed tremendous growth since it started back in 1994 when it handled around one million parcels a year. This compares to 17m parcels in 2011, a record year for the company.

Syed Ziaullah, chief executive officer, said: “Barclays’ confidence in our business speaks volumes.

“This significant investment in the area will help keep jobs in the area – something we were keen to ensure.”

Andy Mayne, relationship director for Barclays, said: “APC has enjoyed tremendous growth since its inception. They have a clear strategic growth plan and I’m pleased to be able to support them with the creation of their new hub in Cannock.”

Works has already commenced on the site and is due to be completed in December.
