Monarch crowns Birmingham operation with new services

Low cost airline Monarch has further boosted the service offering at Birmingham Airport by announcing two additions to its flights programme from the airport.
The two new flights, which are launched on July 20, will see the introduction of scheduled services from Birmingham to Barcelona and Nice.
The announcement is a further boost to services at the airport and follows the recent move by Aer Lingus to fill the gap left by bmibaby on services to Knock in the west of Ireland.
The new Monarch services support the airline’s summer programme from Birmingham, which includes flights to Malaga, Majorca, Alicante, Faro, Rome, Dalaman, Ibiza and Tenerife.
Kevin George, Monarch’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our summer 2012 flights programme from Birmingham Airport, providing our customers in the Midlands with even more flexibility and choice.
“The addition of new daily services to Nice a new scheduled destination for the airline and the new services to Barcelona supports our determination to deliver an all-encompassing proposition; offering choice, value and superior customer service.”
Martyn Lloyd, Air Services Director at the airport said: “This announcement from Monarch means passengers now have even more choice from their local airport.
“We are delighted with the commitment that Monarch has shown to the region in offering these new fantastic routes and the extra frequencies on existing routes. Monarch is going from strength to strength at Birmingham and the services and facilities that it offers means passengers have choice, value and convenience from their local airport.”
