Lorien welcomes new engineering manager

BURTON-based design and project management company Lorien Engineering Solutions has bolstered its senior management team with the appointment of new engineering manager David Mallinson.

Mr Mallinson, who rejoins the firm having previously spent four years there from 2000, has also worked for Ishida Europe, Motherwell Bridge, ADI Systems and more recently Premier Foods as an Engineering Project Manager.

Lorien director Steve Turner said: “David has had sound and varied experience in technical and management positions throughout his career, covering both UK and international projects. We’re delighted to welcome him on board and are looking forward to benefiting from his wealth of skills and experience.”

Vickers set to triple Midlands workforce

ENERGY efficiency business Vickers Electronics is tripling the size of its workforce in the Midlands as part of a strategic growth programme.

The company designs, installs and maintains energy efficiency technology and the expansion of its business in the region will be led by Worcester-based Jeremy O’Keefe, who will oversee the recruitment of four extra sales and engineering staff.

Mr O’Keefe said: “We have won 160 new contracts – an average of one every working day – since our management buyout last July and this has driven the need to expand our workforce in the Midlands. A great deal of our business is generated in the region, which has a particularly strong manufacturing, distribution and logistics sector.”

Vickers’ client-base in the West Midlands includes Bosch Thermotechnology in Worcester, Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Services Division in Shrewsbury, Arcelor Mittal Distribution Solutions UK in Halesowen, Turner Powertrain Systems in Wolverhampton, EMKA Profiles in Birmingham, and Hozelock, also in Birmingham.

Coaching firm appoints new office manager

STAFFORD-based management and coaching consultancy Synergia Coaching has supported its ongoing expansion with the appointment of Nicola Sargeant as its new Office Manager.

The company, which employs 10 professional trainers and consultants, designs and delivers bespoke training and coaching packages to organisations across the private and public sectors including Staffordshire University and Staffordshire Police.

Company founder Clare Barnett said: “We’re delighted to welcome Nicola to our ever-expanding team. Her appointment coincides with the company’s fourth birthday, and is a further sign that we are shaping up for a very positive next stage in our growth and development.”
