Presidential appointment for Solihull oil man

THE managing director of a Midlands oil distributor has been elected president of oil distribution trade association FPS (Federation of Petroleum Suppliers) which represents more than 80% of heating oil distributors in the UK and Ireland.

Steve Davis started Solihull-based Midland Fuel Oil 25 years ago to sit alongside the haulage business he owned. The firm now serves customers within a 30 mile wide radius.

Commenting on his appointment he said: “During my presidency I will be very active in ensuring members are heard at government. I am currently helping on the council working group for the industry code of conduct which I believe will not only give our members an advantage but will encourage new members.

“One of the main challenges ahead for all our members is the ever changing dynamics which distributors face in securing supplies of fuel – this varies both geographically and seasonally and, with the changes in refinery and terminal ownerships, these issues look set to continue.

“The FPS is in a strong position to continue to represent the industry. It is important that all members of the Federation, whether they are large or small companies, feel that the FPS is addressing the issues which affect them, and this will always be a challenge for the future.”
