Property industry backs Harry Moseley Charity Ball

INDUSTRIAL property developer Prologis, architects Webb Gray & Partners, construction and consultancy group Mace and housebuilder Taylor Wimpey are the latest firms to throw their weight behind the Harry Moseley Charity Ball.

Prologis is taking a table at the event – as are Mace and Taylor Wimpey – and is raising money for the Help Harry Help Others charity while Webb Grey has donated a week in a luxury skiing villa as an auction prize.

Some 53 tables have now been sold for the ball which takes place at Birmingham’s ICC on Friday October 19. TheBusinessDesk.com is the event’s online media partner.

Other businesses to have ‘signed up’ for the ball recently include Network Rail, Virgin Media and Ernst & Young.

The aim is to raise more than £50,000 for the cancer charity at a celebrity-packed event to celebrate Harry’s short but very worthwhile life.

Following the event’s launch recently, billboards advertising the ball are now widespread across Birmingham and the surrounding region. They will be passed by an estimated 1.2m cars a week.

The business community has taken the event to its heart, touched by the story of Sheldon schoolboy Harry and his selfless attempts to raise more than £700,000 for cancer charities by selling hand-made bracelets and touring schools and businesses up and down the country – all this despite the fact he was suffering from an inoperable brain tumour.

His fundraising activities were rewarded this week when he was posthumously awarded the individual Fundraiser of the Year title at a glitzy Institute of Fundraisers awards ceremony in London’s West End.

Following Harry’s death, his mother Georgie set up the Help Harry Help Others charity. Funds raised in Harry’s name have now smashed through the £1m barrier.

The Harry Moseley Charity Ball is being organised by former Big Brother contestant and Birmingham corporate lawyer Peter (PJ) Ellis of Weightmans and Tim Andrews, managing director of Tyseley-based signage company Hollywood Monster, with support from Georgie and many more well-wishers.

Businesses which have yet to get involved are being urged to support the event.
