70 staff arrive at Grant Thornton to service major audit contract

GRANT Thornton has welcomed 70 new staff to its new Birmingham office following a major contract win.

The new staff are from the Audit Commission and are joining Grant Thornton following the firm being awarded the contract to supply audit services to local authorities and the NHS across the West Midlands.

Their arrival coincides with the accountancy firm’s move to its new office at Colmore Plaza.

Managing partner Dave Munton said: “Our move to this prime office space represents a significant step for our 300-strong team in Birmingham and both celebrates our growth to date and underpins future plans.

“Colmore Plaza provides us with a fantastic location in the heart of the city’s business district and a world class working environment, of which all of our staff feel immensely proud.”

Jon Roberts, regional head of public sector assurance for the firm, added: “From a standing start five years ago, Grant Thornton in Birmingham has built its public sector assurance practice to the point where it is now the largest such team in the West Midlands region.”
