Midven backs Big Button’s expansion plans

BIRMINGHAM technology and media company Big Button Media has received £400,000 of funding to continue the growth of the company’s on-line video platform Buto.
The funding, in part financed by Midven’ s Exceed – Midlands Advantage Fund, will allow Big Button – based in Fazeley Studios in Digbeth – to develop Buto’s sales and marketing functions in order to grow UK market share and develop channel sales.
As well as providing their software-as-a-service platform, Buto has developed a number of online TV channels for brands such as UCAS and the Rugby Football Union.
Buto is an online software product used by brands and large organisations to upload, manage and measure their web video. The product was first developed in 2009 and has since secured a steady stream of large, enterprise clients including Freshfields, Tesco and Interflora.
Midven’ s Exceed – Midlands Advantage Fund has invested the money as part of a stage one funding round, and is set to increase its investment.
Steven Greenall, investment director at Midven, said: “We saw how much Big Button had achieved through their own innovation and investment. They’ve built a world class product and signed up some high profile customers.
“It’s a pleasure for us to be backing a technology company in scaling what they know already works.”
Big Button has also won awards for its video production work and featured in the Televisual Magazine top 25 UK corporate film production company chart.
