Browne Jacobson announces 100% trainee retention rate

LAW firm Browne Jacobson has announced that eight of the firm’s trainees qualifying this year will remain with the firm – a retention rate of 100 per cent and a 12% increase on 2011.

All eight newly qualified solicitors, who joined the firm’s training programme in 2010, will be split between Browne Jacobson’s offices in Birmingham, London and Nottingham joining the firm’s health, commercial, education, financial & public risk and property teams.

Browne Jacobson receives more than 800 applications for its eight training places each year with successful candidates spending four periods of six months in some of the principle areas of the firm.

The news comes in a year in which the firm posted a 17% increase in turnover for the financial year 2011-12, opened two new offices in Manchester and Exeter and relocated its Nottingham headquarters.

Eileen Henry, director of human resources, said: “Our trainee retention rate has remained strong for a number of years and we are delighted that this year we can offer every one of our newly qualified lawyers a position in the firm.

“The fact we receive over one hundred applications for each training place every year demonstrates the reputation of our training programme and the work experience we can offer.”

The firm has also offered nine training contracts following its assessment event in August and a further two training contracts were offered as part of a new initiative which provides internal candidates with an alternative route to qualification.
