Black Country Chamber reveals awards short lists

THE Black Country Chamber of Commerce has announced the short lists for its annual awards.

In the manufacturing category Alucast will slug it out with A&M EDM, Midland Pressure Diecasting, Lift & Engineering Services and Metsec, while in the excellence in innovation category R&R (Midlands) will compete against Thompson AVC and Clarkwood Engineering.

The professional services firm of the year award will be contested by Higgs & Sons, Crowe Clark Whitehill and Handelsbanken while the achievement in international business category will see Dudley and Walsall colleges up against Concept Steels.

The short lists were announced at the Chamber’s annual exhibition at Wolverhampton Racecourse, an event attended by more than 600 businesses.

The awards will take place at the same venue on November 29 and will feature keynote speaker Tony Collins – chief Executive of Virgin Trains – and event host, BBC Asian Radio’s Tommy Sandu.

David Jukes, Wolverhampton board member and chair of the Chamber judging panel, said: “The standard of nomination was extremely high this year, the judging panel and I had to make many a tough decision.”
