Entrepreneur Shortt launches tech firm spin-off

DENYS Shortt’s Stratford-upon-Avon software company Enable has launched a new subsidiary called DealTrack Ltd.

DCS Europe boss Shortt has set up the company with Andrew Butt, his business partner in Enable, and fellow directors David Hunt, Andy James and Dan Wood.

DealTrack will be located in the new £1m Enable headquarters in Timothy’s Bridge Road, Stratford and will create up to five new jobs over the coming year.

Enable – set up by Shortt and Butt – helps distributors, wholesalers and buying groups manage the income they receive from suppliers and customers.

But the pair believe they have identified a key area where businesses are continually throwing away hard earned revenue.

DealTrack creates web-based software that is intended to simplify business-to-business trading, unlock hidden revenue and maximises profit in trading agreements.

Shortt said: “We have found a niche here. DealTrack will transform how companies manage their business deals and help them lock down profits. It has been tried and tested.”

Butt added: “We have identified that rebates and royalties are often poorly supported by core business software systems and crucial agreements and revenues are often relegated to spread sheets and paper records.

“The scary part is that this income can sometimes amount to more than the company’s gross profit.”
