Jobs saved as Partner Logistics bought out of admin

COLD storage and haulage company Yearsley Group has rescued 20 jobs after buying the business and assets of Partner Logistics, based at Hams Hall in Coleshill.
The Rochdale-based firm, which has been operating the business on licence since July, acquired it for an undisclosed sum from administrators PwC.
In a separate but related transaction it has bought the freehold of a 200,000 sq ft Hams Hall warehouse from Ropemaker Properties.
Managing director Harry Yearsley said: “The location of this cold store could not be better for consolidating stock from around the UK and abroad, and delivering into many of the leading retailers’ distribution centres.
“Consolidation of stock from manufacturers not only makes for more efficient delivery into major retail and food service organisations, it also contributes to reducing carbon output. We are forecasting that Hams Hall will be 60% full by March 2013.”
With the addition of Hams Hall, Yearsley Group now has 13 regional depots, a national pallet capacity exceeding 320,000 and a fleet of more than 300 temperature-controlled vehicles.
Kirsti Pinnell and Liz Slater from the corporate and commercial team at Manchester law firm Kuits advised Yearsley Group on the acquisition.
Pinnell said: “The Yearsley Group is a well-established family business and major operator in the frozen foods sales and cold storage and distribution markets. This acquisition demonstrates their clear strategy to increase market share.”
Tony Barrell, joint administrator and director at PwC, said: “We are very pleased to report a going concern sale of the Partner Logistics Hams Hall cold storage business to The Yearsley Group. The going concern sale of the business and assets has secured the long-term future for the employees and the warehouse facility.”
