Nicklin Transit Packaging eyes takeover targets following growth spurt

NICKLIN Transit Packaging is enjoying record levels of turnover following a £500k investment programme over the last three years and is considering making strategic acquisitions.

Turnover at the Birmingham firm – which celebrates its 100th birthday next year – has reached almost £7m after a 40% increase over the past two years, with a further 15% increase predicted by May 2013.

Recently, it has invested in biomass heating, a two-way pallet line and bespoke business management software.

David Nicklin, managing director of the bespoke timber and corrugated transit packaging specialist, said: “Our organic growth over the last two years has been a fantastic result in a challenging climate. This is testament to our investment in operational capability, efficiency and people, coupled with our product and service offering – which is truly bespoke.

“We deliver cost-effective, design-led, environmentally friendly packaging solutions and our client retention is first class.

“We are at the forefront of our sector and are both competitive and profitable; the next five years will be extremely exciting for the business, with significant organic growth projections and a number of acquisitions currently under consideration.”

The firm is driven by its environmental commitment. This has led to investment in biomass heating across the whole site. The green modification replaces gas and electric systems, eliminating waste and reducing energy costs.

To meet its customer demands and increased business, Nicklin has also invested in a bespoke Two-Way Pallet Line and Leg Machine in partnership with IMH of Sweden. This has led to the creation of three new jobs and an upsurge in productivity.
