Inspiring appointments for accountants

MIDLAND accountancy practice, Inspired Accountants, has strengthened its team with the appointment of two employees.
 
Christine Green joins the firm, which has offices in Lichfield and Leicester, as a bookkeeper, while Christine Hawkswood has joined as an accounts technician.
 
Ms Green, who has 27 years’ of bookkeeping experience, will be client facing and be responsible for preparing VAT returns, management accounts and year-end accounts.
 
Ms Hawkswood, who previously worked for an accountancy practice in Tamworth, will be responsible for accounts preparation, bookkeeping company secretarial duties and advising on company tax, personal tax and VAT.

HSBC farms out new contacts

From left: Ed Brown, Joanne Burroughs, Simon Breakes and Andy HipwellHSBC Agriculture has appointed Ed Brown as Senior Agriculture Manager for the Shropshire and Staffordshire region. He replaces Simon Breakes, who has retired after nearly 20 years with the bank.

Mr Brown joins HSBC from Yorkshire Bank where he was a partner in the bank’s agribusiness   division. After an initial period with agricultural consultancy Andersons, he has been in agricultural banking since 2001 and comes from a family farming background having grown up on an arable farm in Berkshire. He joins the existing specialist HSBC Agricultural Manager Joanne Burroughs, who also covers Shropshire and Staffordshire.

The bank has also enhanced its presence in the Shropshire and Staffordshire region with the appointment of Steve Nock as an Agriculture Manager. He will focus on farming businesses with borrowing up to £150,000 and joins from an internal position within HSBC.

The latest appointments bring the number of specialist HSBC Agriculture Managers in the Midlands to 17.

Deloitte invests for the future

New graduates at Deloitte DELOITTE in Birmingham has recruited 59 graduates from universities, colleges and schools across the UK as part of its 2012 graduate and BrightStart intake.

The students, half of which are from universities in the West Midlands, join others who have begun their careers at Deloitte across the UK this autumn.

The new intake will work across the firm’s audit, tax and enterprise risk services divisions, as well as a host of other departments. Each student will undertake a practical and theoretical training programme, ensuring a thorough understanding of the business alongside development of key skills.

Jonathan Dodworth, Partner at Deloitte in the West Midlands, said: “We are pleased to have welcomed such a talented crop of new joiners who, in the short time they’ve worked in their respective teams, have already shown a passion for business and fantastic potential.”
