Grant Thornton boosts Birmingham Science Park with new commercial partnership

THE Birmingham office of accountancy firm Grant Thornton has boosted its support of Birmingham Science Park by becoming a full commercial partner.
The new partnership will involve Grant Thornton’s advisory and tax specialists delivering one-to-one coaching and mentoring to the science park’s budding entrepreneurs through its tech incubator, Entrepreneurs for the Future (e4f).
Grant Thornton will also host a series of events and surgeries for the park’s wider range of tenants on a wide range of business issues including corporate tax, VAT, raising finance, employee benefit schemes and restructuring.
David White, partner at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said: “Working with dynamic and ambitious businesses is what Grant Thornton is all about, so extending our relationship with Birmingham Science Park to full commercial sponsorship is a natural progression from last year’s sponsorship of e4f, which everyone involved found very rewarding.
“Birmingham Science Park is becoming renowned for its work with innovative businesses in the digital media, ICT, medtech and clean tech sectors, all of which represent significant potential for the economic health of the region as well as UK plc.
“We are delighted to help the park nurture and support these rising stars in both their domestic and international growth ambitions.”
Birmingham Science Park recently welcomed three new start-ups to e4f, taking the total who have benefited from the initiative to more than 60 in less than three years. It has just launched the third phase of the programme, which includes the addition of more offices and desk space, enabling the programme to support up to 50 companies a year.
Dr David Hardman MBE, CEO of Birmingham Science Park, said: “Having advice from leading business advisers such as Grant Thornton on tap is vital to the entrepreneurs based at the science park.”
