Heart of England food offering goes global
FOOD and drink from the West Midlands will soon be enjoyed in countries around the world following the forging of a a partnership between food group Heart of England fine foods (HEFF) and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).
The two organisations have teamed up to take advantage of an increasing level of interest from international markets in quality food and drink from this region.
In response HEFF is now launching an international arm of its HEFF Trading Desk to provide a one stop shop for overseas buyers, taking the hassle out of sourcing English products. Buyers will benefit from the expert knowledge of the trading desk team to advise on suitable products and they will be able to order food and drink from a number of producers in one transaction.
The trading desk, based at the Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre in Shrewsbury, is funded and supported by UKTI, in partnership with the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, which will underpin the project and assist HEFF to access global markets.
The project will also see the HEFF website being translated into five languages.
HEFF chief executive Karen Davies said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for producers to maximise their potential and for us to spread the word across the globe about the quality and diversity of food and drink from the heart of England.
“With the support and expertise of UKTI, the HEFF International Trading Desk offers overseas buyers a simplified way of sourcing English food and drink.”
