Edgbaston announces third ICC Champions Trophy sell out

THE first allocation of tickets to see England take on Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 at Edgbaston has sold out.

It is the third game of the global tournament to sell out at the Birmingham venue.

Colin Povey, chief executive of Edgbaston, said: “The ICC Champions Trophy is one of the sporting highlights of 2013, and with such an attractive set of matches due to be played in the city, Marketing Birmingham has already projected that the local economy will benefit by around £12m.

“The Australian cricket team always attracts a great deal of interest when playing in the UK and we are delighted to host the Aussies in three ODI matches at Edgbaston in the 2013 summer.”

Steve Elworthy, ICC Champions Trophy tournament director, said: “We know that because of the diversity of cultures in the United Kingdom that each team taking part can be guaranteed home support and because the demand for tickets has been so high we urge everyone to reserve their place at this special tournament as soon as possible.”
