npower to close Kingswinford office

Energy supplier npower is to close one of its call centre operations in the Black Country which employs almost 300 people.

The firm, which has operations throughout the West Midlands, said the decision to close the Kingswinford office had been made as part of a strategic review of premises being carried out in conjunction with its parent company RWE.

It is understood the closure will be completed later this year and the move will see some staff relocate to larger offices in Worcester. It is unclear at the moment whether the closure will result in job losses.

Some of the 284 staff who work at the High Street offices have already been moved to the Six Ways site, just outside Worcester.

npower had announced to workers last summer that the offices would be affected as part of the review and the implications were delivered to workers before Christmas.

The firm has pledged to update workers on the progress of its plans.
