RSM Tenon teaches schools about academy issues

RSM Tenon is targeting schools in Birmingham that have become or are set to become academies.

The advisor is staging an event at its offices in the city where it will offer specific advice and guidance to academies in light of a new audit committee ruling which sets out recommendations on how financial decisions, risk management and governance should now be managed.

RSM Tenon said it had worked with more than 140 secondary and primary school academies and academy groups so far, managing all aspects of their accounting, tax, auditing and responsible officer support.

The workshop is aimed at school heads, principals, finance directors, governors, audit committee members and chairs of academy trust boards.

Lisa Randall, partner at the firm, said: “The audit committee ruling means that academies now need to review their governance, risk and assurance arrangements to ensure they are able to deliver the requirements set out as part of the new Academies Financial Handbook.

“There are now new areas and potential issues academies must be aware of and this event is an ideal opportunity for them to not only get up to speed with all they need to know, but to find out more about the wide range of support we can provide to ensure they remain ahead of the game as well as compliant.”

The event takes place at the firm’s offices in Legge Street at 6pm on Monday February 4.
