New appointment for aluminium specialist

BIRMINGHAM-based aluminium specialist metalweb has appointed Tony Heard as Operations Director.

Heard joins metalweb from ThyssenKrupp Aerospace Milton Keynes, where he was Supply Chain and Operations Director for five years.

Heard has a considerable amount of experience with over 30 years in the industry, and brings with him a particular strength in managing improvement programmes. He will have full responsibility for operational issues, including transport, at metalweb sites across the UK.

Bruce Maggs, Managing Director at metalweb said: “We are looking to improve a number of areas across the business. My view is that to achieve our objectives we need to add additional operational skills and experience to the team.

“A consistent approach across all sites can be best achieved by having a single Operations Director who can support our plans for growth.

“Tony’s appointment should be seen as a major statement of our intentions within the industry. This is a great time for metalweb and with Tony’s added expertise this will only strengthen our offer.”

Supply chain consultant brings in fresh face

SUPPLY chain consultant Crimson & Co has appointed Peter Garnett to lead its Procurement practice in a move to expand on recent growth.

With a history of senior line roles and consulting in blue chip companies such as CSC, Sanofi-Aventis, Fisons, Greenalls Breweries and GSK Pharmaceuticals, Garnett brings a wealth of experience and best practice in multi-national food, leisure, drinks and pharmaceutical organisations.

He joins Crimson & Co from The Procurement Think Tank where he was a Director, leading the procurement transformation of a large professional services organisation and designing the global supply chain strategy for a leading pharmaceutical company, amongst other profit improvement and risk reduction projects.

Vehicle hire firm appoints head regional sales head

NORTHGATE Vehicle Hire has appointed Neil Burroughs as Head of Regional Sales for the UK and Ireland as part of a business growth strategy for 2013.

Previously working as Head of Sales for independent financial services group, Tenet, Burroughs has a wealth of experience in driving growth for businesses. He also has considerable knowledge in fine-tuning corporate propositions and acquisitions, following his work as a consultant for leading international companies such as Zurich and Oaktree Capital.

As Head of Regional Sales, he will be responsible for driving growth and profit across Northgate’s ten UK and Ireland based regions, in addition to fine-tuning the company’s flexible fleet solutions offering to ensure the proposition has added value and maintains a customer focus.

The company has depots in Birmingham, Cannock, Coventry, Kidderminster, Stoke-on-Trent and Telford.
