Quality Kernels sold to rival food business

DUDLEY nut processing firm Quality Kernels has been sold to fellow food firm Idolwood for an undisclosed sum.

Quality Kernels, which supplies nuts to food manufacturers, was sold by Yorkshire food group Zubrance which had acquired it in 2007.

The Zubrance group also includes New Ivory sauces in Elland, West Yorkshire, and Confection by Design in Harrogate.

Idolwood owns Petrow Food Industries, a processor of nuts, dates and dried fruit in Perivale, London.

Zubrance finance director Adam Jones said: “We are very pleased to have achieved a sale of the Quality Kernels business to a serious group. We wish them every success in the future.”

Law firm Rollits advised Zubrance, led by food group director Julian Wild and associate John Flanagan.

Wild said: “Rollits advised Zubrance on the acquisition of Quality Kernels in 2007 and we were very pleased to provide the corporate finance and legal advice on the successful sale of the company to another major trade player.”
