WELL-known property developer James Howarth, the joint founding director and shareholder of Abstract Land, has launched Sterling Property Ventures.

He has also acquired the operational business of Abstract Land, following agreement with JV partner Abstract Securities.

Peter Graham has left ASL to join Sterling PV as construction director. James and Peter were together responsible for the development of Colmore Plaza in Birmingham city centre and will continue to work on several major city centre schemes under the Sterling PV banner.

These include the refurbishment of 55 Colmore Row for Kames Capital and  Prupim’s Snowhill site (known locally as The Strip).

It is also partnering developer for Birmingham City Council on the city’s two acre Great Charles Street site which forms a major part of the city’s Enterprise Zone.
Martin Taylor of Pickmere Properties has joined as a consultant to assist with sourcing new opportunities.

Howarth said: “The launch of Sterling PV is the culmination of a process of natural evolution following Abstract Land’s many successes. I am very excited by the existing and new opportunities open to Sterling PV in its principal marketplaces moving forward.

“In the short term in Birmingham we shall be focusing on our existing projects and where possible working within the Enterprise Zone framework, while longer term we shall be considering new schemes UK-wide.”
