CPBigwood staff take charity to heart
BIG hearted staff at Birmingham property agents CPBigwood have been totting up their 2012 charity effort.
And, directly and indirectly, it comes to more than £150,000.
Head of marketing Sue Randell said: “Our people really take charity giving to their hearts.
“The example is set from the top and throughout the organisation people volunteer.
“It is lovely that we can help charities – it gives everyone a boost. Hopefully we can do even better in 2013.”
The Epilepsy Society, John Taylor Hospice and Edwards Trust each received donations, money raised through events such as dress down days, a loose change tin, tuck shop and supporting quit smoking campaign Stoptober.
Company donations were sent to St Mary’s Hospice, Marie Curie, Edwards Trust and Molly Olly’s Wishes. Cure Leukaemia benefited from a £1,000 donation via a Moseley Rugby Club Sponsored Walk.
Malvern Instruments and Community First forge strategic partnership
AS part of a commitment to support local communities at its sites around the world, Malvern Instruments has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with Community First.
Community First is a local charity whose expert staff work to help frontline voluntary organisations, social enterprises and communities to achieve their aims and ambitions.
The strategic partnership with Malvern Instruments is a pioneering venture for Community First in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. While Malvern will make a regular financial contribution to Community First, the real potential of the longer-term partnership will be to enable joint working in a number of areas.
Malvern’s managing director Paul Walker said: “I am very pleased to be establishing a relationship that will have the longevity, depth and commitment needed to deliver in a number of ways.”
The strategic partnership is for an initial period of five years.
Visit to housing development ignites children’s imagination
PUPILS from St Francis Catholic Primary School, in Lozells, Birmingham swapped their classroom for hard hats to pay a visit to Linden Homes’ development, The Villas.
The enthusiastic year-two pupils were able to see first-hand how the 30 houses are being built, and were able to touch and feel the different materials used from start to finish in the building process.
Class teacher Mrs Nicholson said: “Throughout the day, Linden Homes were kind enough to accommodate 60 pupils from year two over four separate visits. The pupils enjoyed seeing the homes being built, and as it’s round the corner from their school, it’s important for them to learn about the dangers associated with building sites.”
The pupils also learned about the history of the land, which was once home to Firmin & Sons Ltd, one of Britain’s leading button manufacturers, established in 1677.
