UK Mail delivers £35,000 to ChildLine

STAFF at the Birmingham headquarters of parcels and logistics company UK Mail, are celebrating after helping to raise £35,000 for the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service, a new volunteer-led service which gives children the knowledge to stop abuse.

Through its donation, UK Mail is helping the ChildLine Schools Service protect a generation from abuse, enabling it to deliver its vital messages into 45 primary schools and reaching 3,000 children.

The donation will cover important costs including helping to recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver the service in local schools and a ‘Buddy Kit’ – an advice sheet which children personalise and keep to remind them how to stay ‘happy and safe’, as well as who they can talk to if they have any worries or problems.

Fundraising activities have included payroll-giving, dress down days, bake sales and supporting the NSPCC’s Letter from Santa.

And plans are afoot for UK Mail staff to run the BUPA Great Birmingham Run in October, take part in a 100 mile cycling challenge and even be skydive to do their bit to raise funds.

Guy Buswell, chief eexecutive of UK Mail said: “It’s been a great eight months for UK Mail and its employees with some fantastic fundraising initiatives. We look forward to continuing to raise the awareness of ChildLine and supporting them further to help achieve their goals.”
