Clinical negligence expansion for Higgs & Sons

BLACK Country-based Higgs & Sons has expanded its specialist clinical negligence team with the appointment of a new solicitor.
 
Kate Campbell-Gunn joins the firm from Hull-based Neil Hudgell Solicitors, working within its satellite office in Solihull, where she handled predominantly high-value personal injury claims. She began her career in 2003 at a personal injury firm, Forum Law Solicitors as a paralegal, training with the firm and qualifying in 2007.
 
Ms Campbell-Gunn will work alongside Clare Langford, partner in the clinical negligence department.

She said: “The team is an extremely busy one and we work hard to give our clients the very best legal advice as well as care and support with their legal claims, which can often run over the course of several years.
 
“The addition of Kate to the team will enable us to take on even more work and help us to continue to give our clients the same high level of support they expect from Higgs.”

New promotion at Ansons Solicitors

Martin de Ridder, dispute resolution and employment partner, Ansons SolicitorsSTAFFORDSHIRE-based Ansons Solicitors has promoted Martin de Ridder to partner to head the firm’s dispute resolution and employment department.

Since joining Ansons in 2004 as a newly qualified solicitor, de Ridder, left, has moved up through the ranks and he advises a range of business and private individuals both in the local area and beyond.

He is a specialist in intellectual property and shareholder disputes, and has recently launched an employment law retainer service for SMEs in Staffordshire.  He has previously been recognised in the Legal 500 Directory as one of the leading dispute resolution lawyers in the West Midlands.

Irwin Mitchell banking specialist appointed to Institute of Asian Businesses

Dee Kundi, banking litigation solicitor at Irwin MitchellDEE Kundi, a banking litigation solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, has been appointed to the Executive Board at the Birmingham Institute of Asian Businesses.

The IAB is part of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and specialises in supporting the needs of Asian businesses across the city. The organisation works closely with the chamber to lobby on the key issues and concerns faced by its members, whilst also providing a range of regular networking events.

She will support IAB Director Dipak Shelat to actively review and respond to policies and developments that affect Asian businesses, while also linking up with local partners, stakeholders and key employers to ensure the organisation continues to operate as a cohesive and effective business group.

She has significant banking litigation experience which includes advising banks, building societies and financial institutions on all contentious issues arising from their lender service. These include professional negligence disputes, breach of mandate claims, fraud, personal guarantee disputes, restrictive covenant and consumer credit issues.

Commenting on her appointment to the IAB Executive Board, Dee said: “Being able to combine this position with my role at Irwin Mitchell is a fantastic opportunity.
