Birmingham food firm gets just desserts after Harrods deal

A BIRMINGHAM-based food business has received major recognition after famous London stores Harrods and Partridges both agreed to stock its latest products.
Little Devil dessert pots are produced by the firm from its factory in Mill Street, Aston. The company is the brainchild of the mother-of-two Yvonne Tweddle.
The pots contain fresh, ready to eat strawberries and each comes with a choice of special recipe caramel and chocolate dipping sauces.
Getting the seal of approval from the two leading stores comes just two months after Mrs Tweddle, from Lichfield, launched the products at Birmingham’s Bullring Shopping Centre.
Mrs Tweddle, who previously worked in marketing for the food industry, launched the business after spotting a niche in the dessert snack market.
“People thought I was a little bit mad to launch a product in a struggling economic climate and yes it was a risk, but I strongly believed that I had something that was unique and would fill a gap existing in the retail dessert market,” she said.
“I’m delighted that it’s being received so well by retailers, especially by ones with the reputation that both Harrods and Partridges have.”
She is now set to approach a number of other high-end outlets across the UK to see if they will consider stocking the Little Devil range.
In Birmingham, the firm has also secured deals with The Grocer at Edgbaston as well as The Deli at Edgbaston, run by entrepreneur Simon Dunmore.
Mrs Tweddle is following a trend of women setting up their own businesses. Latest surveys show a 39% rise in the number of so-called ‘mumpreneurs’ in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
