mfg Solicitors continues expansion with Bromsgrove acquisition

MIDLAND law firm mfg Solicitors is close to completing a deal to acquire Bromsgrove legal practice Scotts Holt & Sellars.
Maynard Burton, partner and chairman of mfg Solicitors, which already has an office in Bromsgrove, said that when completed the acquisition would considerably add to mfg’s presence in the area.
“We have also seen steady growth in recent years and are expanding. Bringing onboard the team at Scotts Holt & Sellars will add further expertise to our already talented team and I have no doubt they will contribute considerably to our growth in Bromsgrove in the years ahead,” he said.
“Like Scotts Holt & Sellars we already have an established presence in Bromsgrove and act on behalf of many local people and businesses. The acquisition means we will be able to offer more services to those individuals and businesses, clients of Scotts Holt & Sellars and boost our already-renowned family, private client and conveyancing services.”
Alan Morris, senior partner at Scotts Holt & Sellers, added: “When the deal is completed we are certain we will contribute to the further success of mfg Solicitors in the future.
“It’s an exciting deal for both firms and our existing clients will benefit from the extensive range of legal services and specialisms mfg Solicitors can offer.
“We are certain that the merger will bring many benefits for our clients. We will be able to offer an increased number of legal services to them and more importantly, mfg Solicitors share our ethos in providing an excellent service.”
The deal is expected to complete on August 24 and the move follows mfg’s recent acquisition of Ludlow legal practice Phillips & Co.
Mr Burton confirmed that employees of Scotts Holt & Sellars would continue to be based in their St John Street office while arrangements were finalised to merge the Bromsgrove offices of both firms into mfg’s existing premises.
Chris Bovey, partner at mfg Solicitors, has played a key role bringing the deal to the table alongside the firm’s managing partner Suzanne Lee.
Scotts Holt & Sellars, a two-partner practice, can trace its roots back nearly 130 years. It provides a variety of family, matrimonial, probate and property-related legal services. The practice, which employs 10 people, became Scotts Holt & Sellars in 2006 following the merger of two Bromsgrove legal practices – the 1886-founded Holt & Sellers and Scotts.
mfg Solicitors has 31 partners and employs 118 people across main offices in Kidderminster, Worcester, Bromsgrove and Telford.
