Driven couple prepare for new venture on business park

A COUPLE who set up their own business after being made redundant will move into their new home on a Wednesbury industrial park next month.

Emma Young, 35, and Stephen Mays, 39, (below) have taken a 9,484 sq ft unit on the Parkway Business Park (left) for their new venture E & S Van and Car Service Centre.

The business is due to open on September 6 and will employ seven people initially but has room to expand on the park, which is owned and run by London and Cambridge Properties.

Miss Young said: “I used to run a van centre for a main dealer until it was closed and I was made redundant. However, I kept in contact with my previous customers and I knew I could provide a niche business that gave them the service they needed.

“In our new centre we can offer a more flexible, customer-focused approach. We will be able to provide quicker turnaround times and even a ‘while-you-wait’ service where possible.

“We chose Parkway because we wanted somewhere in the area which had easy motorway and main road access.

Stephen Mays and Emma Young of E & S Van and Car Service Centre Ltd“The estate has everything we need and we have enough space to enable us to expand.”

The business will work with ambulance stations for their safety checks and carry out MOTs on cars, light vans and long wheel-based vans with the eventual aim of servicing vehicles with more than 13 passenger seats.

LCP, which is based in Kingswinford near Dudley, bought the estate last year to add to its property portfolio in the region and now has around 14m sq ft.
