Hundreds more jobs lost in North Warwickshire after Greenwoods collapse

NEARLY 300 jobs are to disappear following the collapse of Coleshill-based ICT sector manufacturing firm Greenwoods Communications.
The news, broken to employees on Thursday, follows close on the heels of the closure of the nearby Daw Mill Coliery with the loss of around 600 jobs.
A jobs fair is to be set up by North Warwickshire Borough Council to help Greenwoods employees.
Assistant chief executive of the council Steve Maxey said: “Whilst obviously it’s not very good for those involved, the background picture is very, very healthy in north Warwickshire.
“We’re the only district in Warwickshire that’s managed to create more jobs than there are people in the borough which obviously is quite a healthy situation.”
However, council leader Councillor Mick Stanley – quoted in the Tamworth Herald newspaper – said: “This is really bad news for North Warwickshire. We recently lost hundreds of jobs at Daw Mill. Now we have lost 280 jobs in Coleshill, of which 170 were from North Warwickshire.”
Greenwoods provided manufacturing services and engineering repairs to telecommunications companies.
It employed 210 staff at its premises in Coleshill and 58 field engineers across the UK.
Deloitte has been brought in as administrator to the firm.
