70 new jobs as M&S launches second Solihull food store

MARKS & Spencer is set to open a second M&S Simply Food store in Solihull next month.

It will be located at Sears Retail Park in Cranmore and the retailer says it will create 70 new jobs. 

M&S already has a Simply Food store a few minutes’ drive away on Stratford Road in Shirley.

Its new 8,700 sq. foot Simply Food store – due to open on Wednesday, September 18 – will stock up to 2,000 Marks & Spencer food and drink products.  In addition, the store will boast an in-store bakery and a 48-seat café.

Store manager Charlotte Hayes said: “We are thrilled to be bringing the very best of M&S food to Sears Retail Park next month in the much anticipated opening of the new M&S Simply Food store in Solihull.

“The new M&S Simply Food is a great addition to Sears Retail Park and we are especially pleased to be creating so many jobs in the area.”

Sears Retail Park is already home to retailers including Boots,Toys R Us and Argos.

When it was first mooted that an M&S food store would be opening on the park, it was suggested the retailer’s Shirley store would close.

However, a spokeswoman for M&S said there are no plans to close that shop.

Marks & Spencer also has a store in Mell Square in Solihull town centre.
