Wesleyan announces high profile board appointment

BIRMINGHAM-based Wesleyan has appointed Professor Sir Kenneth Calman to its Medical Sickness Advisory Board with immediate effect.

His role is to offer insight and advice to enable Wesleyan to tailor products and services to meet the particular needs of doctors and dentists more effectively.

Sir Kenneth, who is currently Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, has a distinguished medical career history and is a Fellow of several academic and professional bodies including the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Surgeons.

Speaking of his new role Sir Kenneth said: “I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues on this distinguished board and using my knowledge and experience of the medical world to help Wesleyan deliver its key strategic aim of providing tailored financial advice, services and products to medical professionals.”

Sir Kenneth has served for many years as a prominent clinical professor and written a number of books on the care and treatment of cancer and on medical education.  Previously, he has worked as Chief Medical Officer for both Scotland and London and led many powerful committees, including serving as Chairman of the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation.

The Wesleyan Medical Sickness Advisory Board comprises: Professor Sir Brian Jarman, Professor Parveen Kumar, Sir Roger Vickers, Dr Ernest ‘Mac’ Armstrong, Dr Judy Gilley, Dr John Canning, Ralph Davies and Shalin Mehra.

Wesleyan Medical Sickness provides specialist financial advice, products and services to hospital doctors, GPs and dentists.
