Chiltern named most punctual operator for tenth straight month

CHILTERN Railways has again been named top franchise rail operator for right time train punctuality. Its record of success extends to a 10th straight month.

Network Rail figures, which are based on the percentage of services that arrive within a minute of their scheduled time, revealed that 87.8% of Chiltern Railways trains were on time against a national average of 67.4.6%. The performance is slightly improved on last month which saw 87.5% of trains fall within the margins.

The performance again places Chiltern ahead of rivals such as Virgin and London Midland.

Andrew Munden, Operations and Safety Director at Chiltern Railways said: “We are delighted to maintain our position at the top of the league table for the tenth consecutive period running. This really does demonstrate the dedication from our staff across the business to ensure our passengers have a punctual service and a first class experience.”

The firm has now extended it Mainline service to London from Birmingham’s Snow Hill to try and capture a bigger slice of Birmingham’s business commuter market. The service to Marylebone is marketed to commuters in Birmingham by highlighting the time it saves them from having to walk across from the city’s main business district to New Street.
