Top community award for Birmingham-based My Time

BIRMINGHAM-based therapeutic educational provider My Time has received national recognition at this year’s HP Smart Business Awards.

The company, situated in Small Heath, picked up the Community award for its work delivering evidenced-based, culturally sensitive counselling and support services.

Now in its second year, the HP Smart Business Awards aim to promote the best achievements of the UK’s SMEs, celebrate their contribution to the UK economy and highlight HP’s commitment to partnering with the SME community.

My Time began as a community-based therapeutic educational provider, specialising in confidence building programmes. It was developed through research on the effects of informal education on levels of self-esteem amongst people experiencing depression and anxiety.

Michael Lilley, chief executive of My Time, said: “We are delighted to win. Our success as a business underpins our ability to support our service users effectively.”

Susan Bowen, Chief of Staff UK & Ireland at Hewlett Packard, said: “On behalf of HP, I would like to congratulate our winners and shortlisted companies. We’ve been overwhelmed by the volume of entries this year and the shortlist is a testament to the incredible energy and dynamism within the UK’s SME community.”

Lord Younger, Intellectual Property Minister at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills said: “These awards recognise the innovation and creativity that exists in our UK SMEs and I congratulate the winners.”

The winners received their awards at a ceremony held at the new Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London.
