Fly by Nite hoping to become a permanent fixture after Redditch move

SPECIALIST transportation company Fly By Nite has bought a 30,000 sq ft warehouse in Redditch.

The firm, which works in the exhibition, theatrical, entertainment and music fields and counts groups such as The Killers and Foo Fighters amongst its customers, has acquired a  unit on a four acre industrial site which sits between Shawbank Road and Broad Ground Road in Lakeside, Redditch.

Property consultancy John Truslove acted as acquiring agent on behalf of the Redditch-based group. No financial terms have been disclosed.

The facility, close to the firm’s existing base, will provide a state-of-the-art environment for testing stadium sound systems and will provide a venue for major bands to rehearse before they head out on tour.

Fly by Nite, established in 1990, transports to locations across the UK, Europe and North Africa. It now operates a fleet of 100 Daf trucks.

The company employs 30 staff and around 140 drivers.

Carl Reed, director at Fly By Nite, said: “Our industry experience and understanding of the challenges involved when transporting large amounts of equipment has resulted in significant growth for the business in the past four years.

“Purchasing this new site is the next step in the company’s growth strategy, and has presented us with a great opportunity to develop a comprehensive rehearsal space. A full production rehearsal can take up to five days, and this will enable us to offer an essential service to clients in a central location.”

Ben Truslove, a director of John Truslove, said: “Fly By Nite is a go-ahead business in a fascinating sector.”
