Birmingham student bar named best in the region

A BIRMINGHAM bar has scooped the award for ‘Best Student Bar’ for the sixth year running.

The University of Birmingham Guild of Students’ Joe’s Bar triumphed at the region’s Best Bar None Awards, which were held at the ICC.

The bar successfully fended off competition from three other popular student venues from across the city. It was recognised for its pub management and for its work in promoting safe alcohol retailing and student safety.

Best Bar None is a national accreditation scheme recognised by the Home Office. The scheme awards venues that operate responsibly by demonstrating a commitment to reducing alcohol related crime and that take pride in their surroundings for the benefit of Birmingham residents and visitors alike.

Tom Wragg, Vice President (Democracy & Resources) at the University of Birmingham Guild of Students said: “We’re immensely proud to have been successfully named ‘Best Student Bar’ six years in a row. Our bar staff, students who work part-time while they study, are extremely dedicated to Joe’s and this award is a testament to their commitment.”
