Ansty Park gears up for a busy year on the development front

RESEARCH and development scheme Ansty Park is gearing up for what is described as “significant development activity” during 2014.
The first action of the year at the 1.5m sq ft park, adjacent to Junction 2 of the M6 near Coventry, will be the start of a £1.2m infrastructure programme.
Buckingham Group Contracting is undertaking the work with Mace project managing on behalf of the owner, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
Steve Holland, head of asset management at the HCA, said: “These infrastructure works will complete the spine road and enable development on the eastern side of Ansty Park, the location for a new £60m high-temperature research centre that is to be built as a joint collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce once the infrastructure works are completed in February.
“This building will be used to develop future generations of aero engines and is being funded through a £40m investment by Rolls-Royce, matched by a £20m government grant through the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
“As well as enabling the construction of this 65,000 sq ft building these infrastructure works are also part of the gearing up process to enable further development which we will be in a position to announce shortly.”
Ansty Park is already home to two major occupiers: The Manufacturing Technology Centre – a 120,000 sq ft facility which was developed in response to the Government’s manufacturing strategy – and retailer Sainsbury’s, which occupies 168,000 sq ft at the entrance to Ansty Park as its Store Support Centre.
