Fabric recycling firm buys Birmingham bus garage

NEW Henna Traders has bought the £73,259 sq ft Lea Hall bus garage in Birmingham for an undisclosed sum.

The Nottingham-based fabric recycling firm has bought the site – which hasn’t been in use as a bus garage since 2010 – from West Midlands Transport.

Abid Iqbal, director at New Henna, said: “I bought the former Lea Hall bus station to open a new collection point for used textiles in the Midlands and surrounding areas.

“This expansion should improve our turnover fourfold over the next few years as the company is growing fast and these premises play a key role in this expansion.”

NG Chartered Surveyors acted for New Henna Traders.

Sunny Landa, director of NG, said: “New Henna had been searching for a suitable property for three years and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to help them finally clinch the deal on Lea Hall bus garage.”

“New Henna was looking for a flexible, high-quality workforce, and they realised that Birmingham was an ideal place to draw upon that.”

Charles Warrack, associate at Vail Williams, which acted for West Midlands Transport, said: “Our client is delighted to complete this deal, after it found the building was surplus to its operational property portfolio.”

Lea Hall bus station is situated adjacent to the junction of Crossfield Road and Kitts Green Road. Birmingham city centre is approximately six miles to the west.
