Coventry University uses MACH to highlight services to manufacturers

COVENTRY University is showcasing how its Faculty of Engineering and Computing can be of use to the UK’s manufacturing sector.
The university is demonstrating its facilities by taking part in this year’s MACH 2014 sub-contractor exhibition, currently taking place at the NEC.
The biennial exhibition, staged by the Manufacturing Technologies Association, is the largest event of its kind in the UK. It brings together all the best innovations and latest developments from the sector under one roof.
Coventry University, which has recently entered into a collaboration with the Unipart Group to develop a new multi-million pound Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, is exhibiting at the event for the first time.
The university is appearing alongside 500 other exhibitors, which include major industry players like Airbus and Rolls Royce. The university plans to use the event to showcase its expertise and to highlight the efforts it is making as a business-facing institution to strengthen links between academia and commerce.
As well as supplying graduates for the future needs of the industry, the university also provides consultancy services, opportunities for continuing professional development and access to world class research specialists.
Engineering and computing experts, including members of the metrology and EC Futures teams, will be outlining to visitors the support they offer which ranges from research, testing and development to funded projects for SMEs, including the performance improvement initiative and metrology for industry programme.
The team will also highlight the cutting-edge technology that the university has at its disposal via an interactive touch screen virtual tour of its engineering and computing centre, which houses the latest in high tech teaching equipment and boasts an academic resource of over 300 experts in disciplines ranging from manufacturing techniques to software analysis and design.
