M6 drivers warned of disruption during 10-week works scheme

MOTORISTS using one of the busiest motorway junctions in the UK have been warned of delays following the onset of a 10-week works programme.
Drivers accessing the M6 southbound at Junction 10, near Walsall, have been advised by authorities to allow more time for their journeys while the work is in progress.
The first week of the roadworks has started on the southbound entry slip road. The work has reduced the capacity of the slip road and drivers have been warned of congestion, especially at peak times.
Road authorities said the traffic flows were being monitored and where necessary, intervention would occur to ensure traffic kept moving.
The work is part of a wider improvement to the M6 motorway, which has been widened to four lanes at Junction 10.
Further works are taking place north of the junction as the motorway heads into Staffordshire. The carriageway in both directions is being widened to four lanes but speed and lane restrictions are in operation while the work is being carried out.
The works programme, between Junctions 10a and 13, Stafford South, are due to be completed next year.
