Property promotion at Squire Sanders

SQUIRE Sanders has promoted real estate lawyer Neil Taylor to partner at its Birmingham office.  
 
Taylor is an experienced real estate lawyer with a diverse practice covering all aspects of commercial property matters in a variety of sectors.  He has particular expertise in residential development and retail acquisitions, acting for a number of clients in relation to their strategic land and property requirements.
 
His promotion is part of a series globally in which a total of 13 lawyers have been promoted as partners and principals within the firm.

New duo bolster mfg commercial team

Commercial property expert Samantha Paxton, left, has joined as an associate from Birmingham firm Eversheds, with fellow associate Janet Humphries, right, a corporate specialist with a reputation for leading complex investment transactions, moving to mfg from county firm Thursfields.

During her eight-year career, Ms Paxton has specialised in a variety of commercial matters including estate management for private and public sector landlords and tenants, property sale and lease back deals and acquisitions.

Ms Humphries, an experienced corporate lawyer who has advised clients across the UK over the past 20 years, is an expert in business transfers, corporate finance and has carved a reputation for advising businesses seeking financial investment.

Working across mfg’s offices in Worcestershire and Shropshire, both will be working alongside commercial partner, Sarah Astbury (centre).

Ms Astbury said: “Samantha and Janet both join us with outstanding reputations for their expertise, experience and advice across a whole host of corporate and commercial legal matters.

“Together they will be immense assets to mfg and for our clients as we continue to develop services we provide across both the public and private sectors.”

mfg Solicitors has 33 partners and employs over 160 people. It has eight offices with main branches in Worcester, Kidderminster, Telford and Bromsgrove.

Hubbard takes the helm at Anthony Collins Solicitors

Peter Hubbard, senior partner, Anthony Collins SolicitorsPETER Hubbard has taken the helm as new senior partner of Birmingham law firm Anthony Collins Solicitors.

He becomes only the fifth senior partner since the firm’s launch in 1973, and takes up the role from Romaine Thompson after her nine-year tenure.

In his new role, Hubbard is focussed on raising the firm’s reputation. He said: “My aim is for ACS to be known as a values based firm with nationally recognised expertise and influence across the third and public sectors.  

“We have a key role to play in advising the public and third sectors on the cuts that will have to be implemented if the government is to achieve its deficit reduction targets, whoever is in power.  

“Importantly, we are committed to implementing new models of delivery for public services that are likely to be placed in the hands of the voluntary, mutual, charity and private sectors as well as the newly commercialised public sector.”

Hubbard is looking to expand the firm’s wealth management work for private clients.

Hubbard is nationally recognised as one of the leading social housing specialists in the UK.  A partner with ACS for 14 years, he has previously led complex transactions in the housing corporate and governance team.
