Bureau looks to attract business district workers with new rooftop terrace

BIRMINGHAM cocktail bar, The Bureau, is expanding its facilities with the opening of a rooftop terrace.

The Colmore Row venue is hoping to capitalise on a shortage of outdoor facilities in the heart of the city’s business district.

The Bureau, launched in October last year at premises previously vacant for four years, has christened the new facility ‘The Langley’s Gin Roof Terrace @ The Bureau’. It is scheduled to open in late June.

The roof terrace is the second phase of The Bureau’s opening and will try and attract office workers with weekly set-menu barbeques designed by head chef Stuart Devereaux. There will also be a semi-permanent bar serving bottled beers, wines, champagne and cocktails exclusive to the roof terrace. A select choice of cigars will also be on offer as an extra indulgence.

Two hut-like features which house flag poles that crown the 1903 Grade II listed building have been converted into small booth seated areas. These will be available for private hire.

The Bureau founders, Zack Foley and Paul Rutter, aged 32 and 27 respectively, have been involved in the bar industry for a number of years. Both recognised the potential of a rooftop bar in the area and the more relaxed vibe t would bring to The Bureau’s personality.

Foley said: “The Langley’s Gin Roof Terrace @ The Bureau is an absolute must for after work drinks this summer, a great weekend destination and ideal for the ‘after shop’ lunch or pre ‘night on the town’ drinks! We hope to carry through the friendly and social vibe we’ve created within the bar, and we hope the roof terrace will only increase the fondness our customers have for The Bureau.”
