London Taxi Company hails buoyant market for record first half

COVENTRY-based London Taxi Company has seen a record first half with the market for its vehicles described as “buoyant”.

The company, formed last year from the remnants of Manganese Bronze-owned London Taxi International, said it had sold 639 of its TX4 vehicles by the end of June.
March was the best month for the Chinese-owned business, where 243 vehicles were sold – its best performance since 2008.

Rob Laidler, retail director, London Taxi Company, said: “It’s extremely encouraging that our vehicle sales are following the general trend for UK automotive sales.

“We absolutely believe that our focus on putting customer requirements at the core of our business, as well as the quality of our team, has been integral in ensuring that we experience the benefits of improving economic conditions.”

It said with customers now given a wider choice as to which vehicle they invested their money, future and business in, the business was working hard to continuously improve its own product and service quality.

“There have been some quick wins and we plan more enhancements as a result of customer feedback; however, the advancements we have made and customer loyalty we have experienced has obviously given us added confidence that we are headed in the right direction,” added Laidler.

The performance has been boosted with the sale of an additional 500 vehicles to Azerbaijan, where the new TX4s will join an existing fleet of 1,000 vehicles and will feature as part of the opening ceremony of the inaugural European Games.
