Senior GVA director loses fight against cancer
MALCOLM Smith, a senior director in GVA’s building consultancy team in Birmingham, has passed away after a long battle against cancer at the age of 62.
Malcolm originally began working for GVA in London in 1989, before moving to the Midlands with his family in the early 1990s to head up the building team in the Birmingham office.
He continued with distinction in this role until his health issues necessitated him to take a step back.
Ian Stringer, regional senior director of GVA in Birmingham, said: “I am sure I speak for everyone who knew Malcolm in saying that he was a thoroughly nice man and a true gent. Our sincere condolences go to his family and his colleagues in the building team.”
Malcolm died peacefully at his Worcestershire home on July 14 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Dee and their children Becky and Dan.
