Sandwell Council seeking buyers for ‘development-ready’ sites

SANDWELL Council is inviting developers and businesses to express their interest in development-ready sites in Oldbury and West Bromwich.

The local authority is planning for the disposal of land at Popes Lane in Oldbury and on Kelvin Way in West Bromwich.

In order to streamline the development process for successful bidders, the land will come to the market under Sandwell Council’s ‘development- ready’ scheme.
This applies a one-stop shop approach to planning, design and other statutory matters and is designed to foster business growth.

Both the 4.71 hectare Popes Lane site and the 3.7 hectare Kelvin Way site are suitable for commercial/employment use, subject to consent.

Councillor Ian Jones, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for jobs and economy, said: “Sandwell offers existing occupiers wishing to expand, or businesses from outside the area looking for suitable new locations, a chance to move to an area with a strong manufacturing tradition, existing supply chains and employment support.

“We want to encourage companies to take advantage of the great working environment and the skilled, young workforce available in Sandwell.”
