HCB expands further with Walsall acquisition
FAST-GROWING professional services group HCB has strengthened its presence in the Black Country with the acquisition of a Walsall law firm.
HCB has taken over the legal practice of Clive Shepherd & Co, moving the staff into offices in Lichfield Street which were acquired in 2011 when the group absorbed fellow Walsall legal firm Hadens.
Clive Shepherd & Co has served the community of Walsall since 1985 and the team specialises in family law, property law, wills, trusts and probate law.
Mike Gahan, chief executive of the HCB Group, said: “Our latest acquisition strengthens our Midlands offering and brings on board a well-respected team of lawyers who have great knowledge of the communities in and around Walsall and the Black Country.
“We will be introducing our unique brand of legal and financial services to their clients which includes calling on our experts throughout the country at any time.”
The HCB Group now boasts 20 offices stretching from Lancashire and the East and West Midlands through Northampton to Tunbridge Wells and the centre of London.
In the past year HCB has expanded its operations to offer financial services via a groundbreaking merger with HCB Accountants.
It is the only legal company in the UK to do so and Gahan said: “So many legal matters have interwoven financial aspects and our clients can now receive expert legal and financial advice under one roof.”
His strategy is to equip the business with as many strands as possible of the professional disciplines in order to provide a one-stop-shop service to clients.
“There is no substitute for having access to a wide range of specialists under one roof providing in-depth advice in their own areas, but who all work together with a shared aim of providing the very best value service,” he said.

The group now has 80 city-trained lawyers at offices in London, Solihull, Birmingham, Lichfield, Redditch, Alcester, Stratford- upon-Avon, Sutton Coldfield, Leicester, Hindley, Leigh, Warrington, Westhoughton, Wigan, Walsall and Tunbridge Wells.
