Things go bump in the night with GBR Phoenix Beard’s new CSR campaign

PROPERTY consultancy GBR Phoenix Beard’s corporate social responsibility campaign for 2015 has got off to a ghoulish pre-launch start with a Halloween themed fund raising day planned for October 31.

The company will be holding a pumpkin carving competition in its offices at The Exchange in Newhall Street, Birmingham.

Colmore Business District businesses are being invited to put their carving skills to the test to raise funds for The Woodland Trust, the firm’s charity for 2015.

Richard Holland, who is responsible for GBR Phoenix Beard’s CSR initiatives, said: “We have elected to support The Woodland Trust in 2015 as there was an overwhelming feeling that we need to have a strong focus on improving the environment and reporting our carbon reduction initiatives.

“The Woodland Trust does an amazing job in offsetting carbon emissions through planting schemes, and we’re hoping to play our part in their work by channelling our fundraising efforts in the next 12 months towards this worthwhile cause.”

Vax employees get fit for the Great Birmingham Run

EMPLOYEES from Birmingham and Droitwich floorcare company Vax have pledged to raise money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Vax has entered a team of 26 runners in this year’s Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 19th October, with the aim of raising £2,600 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

With each Vax runner having pledged to raise £100 for the hospital, they have all been training hard in preparation for the event, which is the biggest half marathon in the Midlands.

Vax MD David Winterbottom said: “Our team put on a fantastic effort in last year’s race and they are back this year to do even better.

“We’re really proud to be raising money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital again and we’d urge everyone to help show their support for this great cause by donating at our JustGiving page.”

 

Briggs Equipment raises £42,000 for military charities

A CHARITY dinner hosted and sponsored by Cannock-based materials handling services specialist Briggs Equipment has raised £42,000 in aid of the Royal Logistic Corps’ football development programme and Help for Heroes, the charity that supports injured Armed Forces personnel.
 
More than 160 people attended the event, which was held at the Headquarters Officers’ Mess of the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) at Deepcut Barracks in Camberley.

Some £33,000 Thirty-three thousand pounds was raised on the night, and Briggs Equipment then pledged to round up the total to £42,000.
 
Brigadier Richard Parkinson said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of those who attended this year’s Briggs dinner, not least the company itself, and on behalf of all those involved in football within the RLC, who will benefit enormously, be that at Regimental or Corps level, Regular or Reserves, Male or Female, I would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks.”
 
 Briggs Equipment has been a supporter of the RLC’s sports programme since 1998. The company’s extensive rugby sponsorship has helped to instil the importance of sport in developing soldiers’ skills, particularly in promoting teamwork and building resilience.

Inspired Accountants charity evening raises £2,215 for bibic

LICHFIELD’S Inspired Accountants has held its annual charity quiz at Darnford Moors Golf Club to raise funds for bibic (Be Inspired By an Incredible Child). 
 
On the night more than 70 people attended helping to raise £2,215, but donations are still being received and so the final amount is expected to be closer to £2,500.
 
Mary Matthews, fundraising and PR team leader at bibic, said: “We’re delighted that Inspired Accountants chose us as its charity of the year and we would like to thank them for raising such a great amount of money and for helping to spread the word about the important work that bibic does.”
 
Paul Bulzacchelli, managing director at Inspired, said: “We chose to support bibic as it is such a worthwhile charity. Through my daughter Isabel, I have experienced first-hand the great work the charity does helping families and giving them the tools to deal with the challenges that arise.
 
“The quiz was a great success and we raised more than we have in the past. I am grateful that such a large number of clients and business partners took part and played a significant role in raising so much money.”
 
bibic is a national charity, which helps children and young people aged from six months to 18-years-old with conditions affecting their social, communication and learning abilities to achieve their potential for a happier and more fulfilled life.
