Boro Foundry announces £7m worth of deals during Export Week

A FAMILY run foundry expects to secure export deals worth a total of £6.85m over the next five years.

The development, announced by The Boro Foundry during Export Week, means the 60 year old, Lye-based firm will be able to take on more staff.

The Boro Foundry – a specialist manufacturer and supplier of castings and machined parts – has been working with UK Trade & Investment since May 2013.
The company recycles used castings and produces replacement parts for W2E (waste to energy) plants.

Nick Morrell of The Boro Foundry said: “The domestic market had been quiet for a while, so a couple of years ago, we decided to take the plunge and look seriously at new opportunities overseas. We contacted UKTI to help us and we’ve not looked back.

“The benefits have been incredible – this year we’ve supplied contracts with companies in the W2E sector in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Germany worth a total of £610,000 and we expect to secure annual deals for the next five years worth over £1.25m.

“Building on this success, we’re now looking further afield at markets in Jamaica, Switzerland, and other European Countries.”

The firm currently employ 34 people, including five apprentices.
